Checking In

Hello! I am present on this day. Man, life has been crazy busy lately. I’ve been spending most of my free time working on the nonfiction project and a data analytics certification, all while trying to keep up with my various social activities.

What I need to do is sit my butt down on the weekends and focus. That would help considerably.

And I’m about to start recording the nonfiction audiobook, which is a daunting process. Well, not so much the recording part. The editing takes forever. Every hour of audiobook you listen to probably took about 5-10 hours to edit.

On the fiction writing front, the Leviathan project still exists. I miss it! I’m eager to get back to it. I will, at some point. I just need to clear some stuff out of the way first.

Then there’s the house. The bungalow still requires attention. Progress on the never-ending woodwork stripping project is slow. The parts that are near completion look awesome. It just takes SO long. These old trim pieces have 90+ years of paint and varnish.

I need more time for the things I love.

I keep thinking about what I need to do to restructure my life, so that I can make a living doing creative things. The end goal has always been and remains to ditch the day job. But to get there, I need to push through the exhaustion and use the leftover scraps of time and energy to the fullest potential. It’s difficult sometimes.

However, I do have a good plan in place. I’m building toward a healthy income from my investments, and those magical dollars feel nice. I’m far from wealthy, but for once, I feel like the life I want to live is a realistic option. I can do what I want, and be okay.

I do have some more flash fiction in the works. The plan is to get several of those locked and loaded before I start posting them regularly again. I need like 6 more hours in the day and the energy to use them properly.

That’s all I have for now! Please enjoy this photo of the snow on my November roses and be sure to follow me if you’d like to wander back over in the future.

  1. I always enjoy your posts, Lea! I’m rooting for you to become a full-time writer. I know that life can get in the way sometimes. I’d definitely buy any book you wrote. How about a compilation of flash fiction? Cheers! Sally

  2. More… I didn’t realize you had existing books on Amazon. I just bought one of your Desmond Winter books. Looking forward to reading it! I love middle grade books.

    • Thank you so much! You’re too nice. And I would love to do a compilation of the flash fiction. I was thinking once I get about 200 of them together, maybe putting them in a book with a little creepy artwork tossed in.
