Checking In

Hello! I am present on this day. Man, life has been crazy busy lately. I’ve been spending most of my free time working on the nonfiction project and a data analytics certification, all while trying to keep up with my various social activities. 

What I need to do is sit my butt down on the weekends and focus. That would help considerably. 

And I’m about to start recording the nonfiction audiobook, which is a daunting process. Well, not so much the recording part. The editing takes forever. Every hour of audiobook you listen to probably took about 5-10 hours to edit. 

On the fiction writing front, the Leviathan project still exists. I miss it! I’m eager to get back to it. I will, at some point. I just need to clear some stuff out of the way first.

Then there’s the house. The bungalow still requires attention. Progress on the never-ending woodwork stripping project is slow. The parts that are near completion look awesome. It just takes SO long. These old trim pieces have 90+ years of paint and varnish. 

I need more time for the things I love. 

I keep thinking about what I need to do to restructure my life, so that I can make a living doing creative things. The end goal has always been and remains to ditch the day job. But to get there, I need to push through the exhaustion and use the leftover scraps of time and energy to the fullest potential. It’s difficult sometimes. 

However, I do have a good plan in place. I’m building toward a healthy income from my investments, and those magical dollars feel nice. I’m far from wealthy, but for once, I feel like the life I want to live is a realistic option. I can do what I want, and be okay. 

I do have some more flash fiction in the works. The plan is to get several of those locked and loaded before I start posting them regularly again. I need like 6 more hours in the day and the energy to use them properly.

  1. I always enjoy your posts, Lea! I’m rooting for you to become a full-time writer. I know that life can get in the way sometimes. I’d definitely buy any book you wrote. How about a compilation of flash fiction? Cheers! Sally

  2. More… I didn’t realize you had existing books on Amazon. I just bought one of your Desmond Winter books. Looking forward to reading it! I love middle grade books.

    • Thank you so much! You’re too nice. And I would love to do a compilation of the flash fiction. I was thinking once I get about 200 of them together, maybe putting them in a book with a little creepy artwork tossed in.
