movie: The Lone Ranger

It is snowing here! Not really a fun time. My drive home required 2 hours and 10 minutes with one stop in a subway parking lot so I could pry ice chunks off my windshield wiper blades. Bah!

Anyway, movie.

Untitled

Description from IMDB: “Native American warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice.”

I was really surprised when this movie bombed in the theaters. Having seen it, I am no less surprised.

The movie is good. The action is crazy, train wrecks, gun fights, really odd things happening. The outlaws were similar in personality and appearance to the bad guys in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

The story has nice depth to it, too. The characters are great, for the most part. Even the horse has personality.

One thing I really liked about the partnership between Tonto and John Reid (Lone Ranger) was that it wasn’t a bromance. They were partners because they needed each other, not because either of them particularly liked or trusted the other. It was an interesting and funny dynamic.

The Lone Ranger gets an A.

  1. For me, I felt like this was just a bit too boring for its own good. Also, terribly uneven. Wish I could have liked this more than I actually did. Good review.
