Hey, I just realized both the movie titles involve the sky. That was totally unintentional, I swear.
Skyfall
Description from IMDB: “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. Whilst MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”
I’m not a huge James Bond fan. In fact, we (the husband and I) disliked the last one so much, that we ended up turning it off in the middle. We don’t do that very often. That being said, I frigging loved this movie. It was awesome. They go into a lot of the back story. The bad guy is creepy as hell. And of course, there are many explosions and fighting and such. James Bond is still a badass. Skyfall gets an A.
Red Dawn
Description from IMDB: “A group of teenagers look to save their town from an invasion of North Korean soldiers.”
One of the first scenes of this movie, maybe it was the first scene, looked like something out of a World War II movie. Imagine being woken up by an invasion, planes dropping guys with parachutes, crashing everywhere, bullets flying. To see that against a backdrop of suburban USA is nuts.
Red Dawn did a really great job setting the scene. The plight of the kids involved is depicted in a somewhat believable manner. They have a rough time, but they still kick ass.
The only part of the movie that was really hard to swallow was the fact that the country that invaded was North Korea. What are they – like the size of one of our states? The scale of the invasion just wouldn’t be possible in real life.
The movie was great, so I forgive them. Red Dawn also gets an A.
